Cognitive revolution

A phrase used to describe a great upsurge of research, theorising and applications using a COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY perspective which began in the 1970s and was especially prominent in European psychology. This was part of a broader movement in COGNITIVE SCIENCE stimulated by developments in artificial intelligence and INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY that led to an increasing sophistication in the study of MIND.
